| Jan Faye Braadland |
|
is born 1958 in Oslo and has published works of both fiction and non-fiction. He made his debut 1982 with the prize winning novel Mannen i månen (Man in the Moon) followed by «Sinnssykeasylet» («The Asylum») 1984. A couple of years later he published a collection of texts called Skrik fra et rustent hjerte (Screams from a
rusty heart). From the end of the 1980s Braadland was engaged with a comprehensive biography work on the clergyman, historian and folklorist Andreas Faye (1802-69). In 1995 he published some transactions as preliminary works to the planned biography, and also wrote the article Echoes of the Brothers Grimm from Thule in Jahrbuch der Brüder Grimm-Gesellschaft, Vol. V, Kassel 1995. The work on the biography was almost closed completely after the writer was involved in a car accident 1996, but he has in recent years finished an article about Andreas Faye in Norsk Biografisk Leksikon (Norwegian Dictionary of National Biography), Vol. 3, Oslo 2001, and several articles related to his biography work from 2003-2005.
Baobab is Braadland's first novel written for the younger generation of readers. |
